Enjoy Lake Troilus at the Square Tail Lodge outfitter. For the time being, only campsites with on-site platforms are available. Camping on the shorelines is not permitted. The cabins and other outfitter buildings are not available at this time.
Location
Location Nestled in the heart of a wild and preserved territory, the Square Tail Lodge outfitter offers privileged access to a generous nature. Lake Troilus, spanning 24 kilometers and dotted with islands, channels, and coves, provides an exceptional playground for fishing.
The outfitter is located north of Chibougamau and Mistissini. From the Rupert welcoming office, located at km 252 of Route 167N, take the Route du Nord. After 108 km of gravel road, turn right at the junction and follow the signs toward the outfitter. You will travel a total of 138 km on gravel from the Rupert welcoming office.
Catch Limits
Catch and possession limits: 8 Walleye (Sander vitreus), 8 Northern Pike (Esox lucius), 3 Lake Trout (Salvelinus namaycush), and 15 Brook Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) or 2.5 kg + 1 fish (whichever limit is reached first) per person.
Safety
The Road
The journey involves more than 138 km of gravel road.
Recommended vehicle: A 4x4 vehicle or one with high ground clearance is strongly advised.
Spare tires: Flat tires are frequent on gravel. Ensure you have two spare tires in good condition and properly inflated, along with the necessary tools to change them.
Communication
Limited cellular coverage: There is no network coverage within the outfitter's territory.
Recommended equipment: It is strongly advised to bring your own functional satellite communication device, programmed with the provided emergency numbers.
Response times: Due to the isolation and the challenges of water access, emergency response times may take several hours.

Located at the mouth of the Broadback River, the site is renowned for its trophy Brook Trout and is considered one of the best spots in Quebec for Walleye fishing. The territory also supports a large population of Northern Pike. Fly-fishing enthusiasts particularly appreciate the immediate proximity to the river, while light-tackle anglers enjoy a vast network of lakes and navigable kilometers to explore. Thanks to rigorous conservation measures, the quality of fishing remains exceptional year after year.
